design a room

i'm going to show you how to design a laundryand how to maximize your storage space within. i've got a measuring tape and apencil, some paper ready to make a plan, and some color swatches to make some final cabinetryand benchtop selections. firstly, you need to determine where yourplumbing points are. so where your waste outlet is and generally we design based on that positionunless you're prepared to move plumbing. every laundry is going to be a little bit differentas far as space goes. so measuring out large items, such as your washing machine, is goingto be of key importance. storage is obviously very important in any space, so consider whatyou need to store. for example, your ironing board, your brooms, vacuum cleaner, that kindof thing, things that need quite a large vertical

space. consider what power requirements youneed. if you are going to iron in the laundry, you'll obviously need a power outlet for that.but then that can't be in too close a proximity to the sink. just place those power pointsin an appropriate position. once we got all our measurements and we'veworked out what we need to store, we can start to determine placement. we'll consider wherethe laundry trough is in proximity to the washing machine, and then generally that'scloser to your back door for ease of access to outside. for this, your floor plan or yoursketch is really handy. generally, a laundry is not that big of a space. so once you workedout what cabinets you need and how this space is going to work, then you can decide whetheryou want to go for a simple, plain white finish

or dress it up a little bit with some interestingcabinet colors or a colored splash back. color swatches and benchtop samples are a greatway to piece together your color scheme and give you an idea of how the laundry will look. standard considerations in your laundry wouldbe your washing machine, your dryer, and the size of your trough. if you've got the space, definitely consider some items such as a folding ironing board, a rail to hang clothes from, even a laundry hamper. it basically comes down to how much space you have. once you'vegot your designs sorted, you can start installing and get washing.
